The combined purse for all teams is 262.95 crore rupees. The auction is set to take place in Dubai, marking the first time an IPL auction 2024 is being held outside the country. It’s a mini auction, and most teams already have the majority of their players. This auction is crucial for teams to balance and strengthen their squads with new additions.

Teams’ Total budgets: –Gujarat Titans have the most money because they traded their captain, Hardik Pandya, with Mumbai Indians. Gujarat currently has 38.15 crores. How will the auction work: –Players are grouped into 19 different categories, like batsmen, fast bowlers, all-rounders, spin bowlers, capped, and uncapped players. Bidding will happen for each category. The auction starts with capped players and then moves to uncapped players. The starting price for a total of 23 players is set at two crores. This includes players like Mitchell Marsh, Umesh Yadav, and Shardul Thakur. For 13 players, the starting price is set at 1.5 crores.
Which big players won’t be in the auction: –In the IPL 2024 auction, some notable players like Ben Stokes, Joe Root, and Jofra Archer from England won’t be participating. Also, teams aren’t showing interest in players like Kedar Jadhav, Liton Das, and Shakib Al Hasan, as their names are not on the auction list released by the BCCI.
Who could get big bids this time: –Australian Mitchell Starc, returning to the IPL after eight years, might see some hefty bids. Similarly, New Zealand’s Rachin Ravindra, with a base price of just 50 lakhs, could attract significant offers after his impressive performances in the ODI World Cup.

Can teams still let go of or trade players: –The time for releasing or retaining players has passed, so teams cannot let go of any players now. Every team has the same players they retained for this season. As per IPL rules, the trading window for players opens one month after a season ends and closes one week before the auction. After the auction, the trading window reopens until one month before the next season begins. Players can be traded again from December 20, the day after the auction, until one month before the start of the 2024 season.
